Ranger Studio Day

“An all day workshop of creative techniques”

Saturday, March 31^st / 10:00am-5:00pm

at CraftFusion in Chandler, Arizona.

Includes: Pastries & Coffee/ Lunch / Afternoon Refreshment

Come and learn the Ranger way. 

This all day workshop will be taught by

 Certified Ranger Educator Michael Jack from Jack & Cat Curio. 

Each student will receive a specialized tool kit 

packed with Ranger tools and goods. 

We will start the day with all things ink. 

Introducing several of the Ranger Ink lines and their fantastic possibilities.

 Includes: Archival/ Distress Ink/ Distress Stains/ 

Adirondack Pigment Ink and so much more.

 After lunch we will be exploring the power of 

Adirondack Alcohol Inks and its uses on 

glossy paper, dominoes, metal, plastics and other slick surfaces.

Then we will end the day with shimmer and shine

 creating dazzling pearlescent effects with 

Perfect Pearls and Perfect Medium. 

Specially developed with a built-in resin, 

Perfect Pearls Pigments are easy to use wet or dry.

Throughout the day we will also be introducing 

other Ranger products and goods.

 Last but not least we will have a small Q and A

 at the end of it all about anything Ranger!

Organized Chaos... or just Chaos?

 

Unfinished shrine box... waiting for completion!

A busy week here in the Jack & Cat Studio.

We are putting the final touches on several web projects.

Boxing and preparing store kits to go out.

Attempting to record a video tutorial or two.

Furniture is being restored and reclaimed. 

  Lesley's passion for restoring and reclaiming 

old furniture is back with a vengeance.

So we have several furniture projects at different stages of completion.

Anyone ever bring a vintage Formica table back from near death?

Oh... the tricks of the trade. 

We will share some of the before and after of these reclaimed treasures later.

Boxes arriving... boxes leaving.

Design team projects almost completed. 

New teaching projects for Spring & Summer being formulated.

Things drying, things waiting for another coat, items waiting to be cleaned...

Also Ranger Studio day is coming...... 5 more days....

All the Ranger goods have arrived  and we have 

started the preparation of kits for Saturday's Workshop.

Yes someone paid the ransom. 

We are back in blogland!

We have neglected the blog for more than a few weeks.

Our day jobs have kept us busy.

That and we are working on new big ideas going into April...

Spring is in the air.

We have been tackling several outside art markets in the last few weeks. 

Every weekend we are taking our wares and artistic goods and setting up somewhere.

The days have been a mad blur.

Also as an artist when you have time, 

you have to check out and reflect upon the direction of things. 

Look back on where you have been... what you have created...

Now where do you want to go?

What new levels do you want to create in your pieces? your themes,? your style?

Has your artistic voice changed?

 Do you need to expand in new techniques?

Have you grown? 

Every artist needs to evolve.

So in between the madness... we have been planning and shaping.

We hope that you will like the new changes coming soon.

Until then we want to share a few items with you.

Today is our day to post a featured project for

So lets start this hop!

What did we do for this this hop? 

We started with this skeleton of a lampshade that we found in a

pile of junk at this estate sale. 

Took it home and sanded some old glue off of it.

Spray painted it black. 

Then we let the creative games begin.

We decided to wrap the skeleton with May Arts ribbon.

Our first choice of Graphic 45  paper was the Curtain Call collection.

Then we switched to Steampunk Debutante.

Then we eagerly settled on Tropical Travelogue. 

All fantastic paper choices for this project. 

But the new Tropical Travelogue offers alot of color punch. 

Plus we couldn't get the zebra print out of our minds. 

Then we created a template for the side panels. 

This was the only tricky part. 

It took a few attempts before we got the perfect panel.

But once we got it.

Started cutting, sanding, inking and layering. 

Quite happy with the end results.

The weekend is coming to a close.

Getting prepped and ready for another full week.

December adventure, classes and freebies

Good morning bloggers!

We miss you. Its been too long. 

An entire month and more since we blogged last.

As one friend put it to us this weekend her 

RSS feed has become lonely. LOL.

The long and short of it ... nobody paid the ransom.

Joking. My health has had many complications 

in the last month. Without going into great gross and boring details. 

I will just say... a few key words... ulcers, abscessed tooth, salmonella.

On the mend...but we got so behind on things.

Poor Lesley... I don't know how she has put up with me.

Nothing worse in the house-than a sick adult man. 

We whine... we gripe... we over exaggerate our

pain at being the worst in the world.

Most men when sick are big babies.

Especially me.

I'm  also a frantic sick man...

I hate being sick. I don't like to believe it. So I fight it.

Instead of sleep..I will jump out of bed with a fever and then attempt

to build the greatest multi-media shrine box the world has ever seen.. 

Only to pass out sleeping on the work table with 

my head in glue after ten minutes.

My logic goes out the door as well.

When my abscessed tooth caused my head to swell three

times its size and I had extreme chills.

  Lesley left me alone to go run errands.  

She came home to to find me in the carport in my pajamas

with my swollen head attempting to film a 

crafty "youtube" video about glitter and adhesives

in the carport on a poker table.

With our two dogs and the mail lady as my audience.

Make of that what you will. 

Needless to say you might not ever see that youtube video.

On the mend...yes.

To make up for lost blog posts... 

We have created several freebie holiday collage sheets

for your downloading pleasure.  

We will continue to post such goodies on

a regular schedule until the New Year.

So we hope that you will check back often.
