Creativity Challenge! Crafter Rant!

So last week I posted a collage sheet. Stop! Time for rant and raving! Not a "crafter" sheet damn you! But a collage sheet! Used by real collage artists. Also altered or mixed media types. We are not just "gluers" and "crafters"! We like to be taken seriously! LOL! Don't we always get that? "So your crafty?".."You like to craft things?".. When I hear someone say that to me it makes me feel like I'm ten years old,in the boyscouts, making a peanut butter pinecone bird feeder, for an old person in a retirement home. When people say the word "craft" it makes me think of cheese. Then I want to bite them, kick them in the shins and run away! I'm really an evil little man. That would be crafty! End of rant!

Anywho! So I posted a collage sheet along with some brief directions for a creativity challenge. Yesterday was a crazy day! So I apologize for being late with this. Also I was a little discouraged. I knew many people had downloaded the sheet- but very little comments of interest-or pieces of work came back. So I wasn't in a big hurry.LOL! Until? Late last night I discovered that someone had actually taken part in my challenge. Here is her piece of work on the top!"Vanity Bound" by Melissa Hilll. I love it! I hope that she continues! If you click on her pic-it taks you to her "Flickr" account! Where you can view some of her other work. Melissa thank you so much!
So I will continue! I will continue with my collage sheets! I will continue with my annoying creativity challenge! To some of you I say Damn your lazy -----! LOL!Here are the pieces from the only two people who took part in my creativity challenge. Melissa and myself!

Hi :)

I just left a comment on your flickr site, but I thought I would leave one here too. Don't get discouraged. Your collage sheet is fabulous and I love the idea of the challenge. As far as being "crafty". I get that all the time too (especially from my mom---she thinks I craft and scrapbook!). It really isn't so bad to be "crafty" if you know the dictionary definition....

Craft (krft)
n.
1. Skill in doing or making something, as in the arts; proficiency. See Synonyms at art1.
2. Skill in evasion or deception; guile.
3.
a. An occupation or trade requiring manual dexterity or skilled artistry.
b. The membership of such an occupation or trade; guild.
4. pl. craft A boat, ship, or aircraft.
tr.v. craft·ed, craft·ing, crafts
1. To make by hand.
2. Usage Problem To make or construct (something) in a manner suggesting great care or ingenuity: "It was not the Chamber of Commerce that crafted the public policies that have resulted in a $26 billion annual subvention to the farmers" William F. Buckley, Jr.

Looking forward to getting to know you! I was in Phoenix in August for Art Unraveled---too bad I didn't stumble upon your sites sooner.

I just found the collage group on Flickr and consequently your blog. I've been looking at a lot of collage, altered-art, mixed-media blogs lately and I think this one is phenomenal, especially the collage sheets. I'll be taking part in the challenge this week. :)

I know what you mean about the craft thing, but for some people I've found that "craft" is a more accessible word than "altered-art".

Also, I've added a link to your blog at a couple of mine:
