Fat Tuesday- Get those cookin pots out!

Happy Fat Tuesday ! Had some time this morning in between projects.
Need to wish you all a Fantastic Fat Tuesday.

My heart and soul are in New Orleans today.

Not to mention my stomach. When I think Mardi Gras- I first think food.
I'm dreaming of jambalaya, gumbo, sweet drinks, oyster stews,
Étoufée,King Cake, and sweet fried fritters with powdered sugar.

However my teddy bear of a man body is stuck here in Phoenix.
Not in New Orleans celebrating Mardi Gras.

However that won't stop me from digging out my "Justin Wilson" cook book.
Making my darling lady and I a big batch of Jambalaya.
A loaf of fresh bread.
Mix a Hurricane or two.
Sit in the backyard with our mighty fine eighty degree weather.
Turn up the music and listen to the sounds of Professor Longhair.
I can damn well pretend I'm in New Orleans!

Next year- I'm going! At least a week or two.
Maybe I can make an altered art/ class/ retreat/ around the whole trip.

What do you think Team Ranger?
Perhaps a Ranger trainning in New Orleans after all that CHA Madness.
T!m? T!m are you listening? Ranger? Bueller? Suze Weinberg?
Do I have any connections? Sadly-no.

Perhaps I'll plan it on my own.
I will invite a small band of artistic merry makers & myself.
Judy B? Cece? K & J? The Peddler?
Oh yeah- the Peddler. He strikes me as a good Mardi Gras man!

Think of the treasures we could find! The pictures that could be taken.
The inspiration from such a trip.
The well of creativity would be runneth over.
Or something like that.

It could be pure heaven!

Make a little art.
Eat a fresh beignet from Cafe Du Monde.
Make a little more art.
Why it just so happens I have a picture of such a fritter.
A beignet with a soothing iced latte.
Does that intrigue any of you?

Perhaps I need to plan this retreat with some of my European friends.
The incredible Tanya Watts? Lisa from Spain?
We could take a walk past the Old Absinthe House and down towards
Jean Lafitte's Blacksmith Shop for a quick drink.
Look for a vampire or two.?

Love it!
For now- Happy Mardi Gras!

Attached are random images and a few Mardi Gras videos to inspire.
Also with any luck this week.
I will finally get around to sharing my California/CHA trip.

It easily rivals Mardi Gras.

It was a week filled with art, fine cuisine, cabaret acts,
absinthe fairies, a glimpse of Suze Weinberg, dancing dwarves,
Santa Monica. Awesome new products, trapeze artists,
a smidge of T!M,
burlesque dancers, travelling hobos, underground bars,
Lesley and her bar fights, good music, inspiration for the soul,
and of course Mickey Mouse.
Almost better than a hot beignet.

No it wasn't all a dream. Just my vacation two weeks ago.

Now where is my Sazerac?

Here is a look from the Krewe du Vieux from a few weeks ago.
The Krewe du Vieux is a "in your face", sexy, opinonated, rebelious, joyous, adults only walking parade that winds from Marigny through the French Quarter. It shares a wide range of views. This is up my alley!
The darker side of goodies!

Enjoy all!
Go enjoy a bowl of gumbo and a Sazerac!
May it all kick your week up a notch or two.

Great post! I was missing NOLA yesterday too!
I ran into the Peddler (AKA the Mayor of Mesa-LOL, good one!)
last Saturday & forced him to sell me some treasures he just found on the spot! You never know what'll happen at Mystic!

That sounds amazing, Mike--thanks for the invitation and thinking of me. I would love to someday visit New Orleans--Harry Connick came through town last November and I went to see him at the Palau de la Musica in Barcelona (amazing venue btw, if you don't already know of it!). Listening to his band had my mouth watering for all things New Orleans...Amazing! CHeers and best wishes to you and The Cat :)
